Checkered PBJ Sandwiches

Give your kids peanut butter and jelly on a "checkered" sandwich!

Kids have fun making these sandwiches for their school lunches. This is also an easy way to get young children to eat whole grains.

Ingredients

1 Slice Honey Whole Wheat Bread

1 Slice Montana White Bread

Peanut or Almond Butter
Jelly, Fresh Apple Slices or Banana Slices

Directions

On a slice of Honey Whole Wheat and Montana White, spread peanut better and jelly.

Cut into four triangles or four squares. Flip two sections for a checkered sandwich.

Or spread both slices with peanut butter, then insert fresh apple slices or banana slices between the two bread slices. Peanut butter keeps fruit from turning brown. A moist crisp apple slice is a natural complement to peanut butter.

A "checkered" sandwich is a fun way to get children to enjoy whole grains. Kids enjoy eating this sandwich even more when they make it themselves!
